Answers to the most frequently asked questions

Where is my data?

Your data is stored in Swiss data centres. We currently have a partnership with Netrics, one of the leading clound providers in Switzerland.

For more information, please visit the homepage of Netrics AG.

What does an account cost me?

The creation and use of a Smart eTax account is free of charge for clients. We settle directly with the fiduciary offices.

Can I delete my account? What happens to my data and documents then?

Yes, you can delete your account at any time.

Your data will be deleted in accordance with the latest Swiss data protection regulations and unauthorised third parties will not have access to it.

We recommend that you download your tax documents and store them in a safe place before deleting them.

Can I switch off 2-factor authentication (2FA)?

No. The protection of your data and documents would not be guaranteed with a simple password without any additional factor.

Where do I contact in case of technical problems?

You have several options:

You will find a "Feedback Button" at the bottom right of the application. You can use this to describe your problem to us in detail at any time. We will then check and solve your problem.

If you need help with the application, you will find explanations of the most important functions of Smart eTax under the heading "Functions".

If you still have questions, you can also contact your fiduciary office or us directly - we will be happy to help you.

Can married couples use a joint account?

No. A separate account must be created for each person.

However, you have the option of inviting your spouse to the joint tax year. You will find this function in the corresponding tax year under the master data in the navigation.

This means that as long as you are married, you can upload documents together to the same tax year.

What happens to a joint tax year if we get divorced?

The documents for the joint tax years during which you were married will remain. The documents for the joint tax years are still available on both accounts, so that each of you has access to them.

However, your ex-partner will no longer have access to your current tax years or to your future tax years.

What do I have to do to open an account?

Here is the link to registration. You can then directly select the trustee office that suits you and request a quote for the completion of your tax return.

You already have a trustee office, but would like to have the whole thing digitally? You are welcome to report your trustee office to us. We will make sure that your trust office is also ready for a secure document exchange on Smart eTax.

Does anyone have access to my data apart from me and my trustee office?

No. Our high-security platform protects your documents and data from third parties. Furthermore, no data is passed on to third parties for evaluation or other purposes.
